How to access the audio

Have some!

Each Thursday at 8:30 PM CDT (with a preshow warm up beginning at 8:00), Hinky Dinky Time goes live around the world!

At the beginning of each week’s  preshow, the link to launch the media player (that for most people, will be all that you’ll need to do in order to tune in the broadcast) will actually stream audio.

This same media player is implemented as an option for listening to the archived shows so for all listeners, what follows are instructions for accessing the audio.

To test your media player you can use the embedded player or the popup player on any of the archived episodes.

Firefox users will need to have the Windows Media Player plugin installed for the link to the popup player to function.

Internet Explorer users should be all set, though you may be prompted to allow the ActiveX control to operate. Users of other browsers are on their own.

Mac users may be able to add browser support for the Windows Media Player Plugin by visiting http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/windowsmediaplayerformacosx.html.

Alternatives for Mac users:

Simply access http://jstraw.dyndns.org:8050/listen.pls after 8:00 CDT on Thursdays with Quicktime or iTunes.

In Quicktime, under File>Open URL, paste in that address and click ok (might be slightly different on a mac, that’s how it’s done in Quicktime on a PC)

In iTunes, under Advanced>Open Audio Stream, paste in that address and click ok (might be slightly different on a mac, that’s how it’s done in iTunes on a PC)

MediaMonkey, Foobar2000 or other compatible media player users, the link to the live stream is the same, http://jstraw.dyndns.org:8050/listen.pls.

Don’t be surprised if you hear something else streaming at that address at other times than during the scheduled broadcasts.

Each week’s broadcast will also be available for archived listening, directly from http://hinkydinky.net or as a podcast, usually beginning the following day. If you know how to subscribe to a podcast (or an RSS feed), the links are presented as buttons on the right side of each page at http://hinkydinky.net

No password is necessary to access the archived streams or the podcast that will be available for listening sometime on Friday.
